Birth
Shant calves will not be able to move in the first few moments of their birth, however, their mother strongly encourages them to begin walking and strengthen their legs. At this state their vocal cords are strong, but they are mostly quiet. Calves will sometimes grow attached to fathers, sisters, brothers, or sometimes just their mom. This can cause family feuds and arguments between the family. Shant calves also know not to explore as their mother will herd them back to the nest until they are juvies.
Juvenile
Once Shant calves become juvies they become increasingly vocal and have a lot more energy from being cooped us as a hatchling. If the family calls out and there is danger, they will rush to the family for protection, this ends up being surrounded in the circle with the youngest always in the middle and the older ones out on the side to keep from harm reaching them. Now, the difference between male and female juvies are greatly noticed. The male calves will begin headbutting and play fighting. Meanwhile the female calves will pay no attention and act graceful like the mother would.
Solitary
If a Shant is ever found wandering the wild alone it is usually very inexperienced or experienced and just too old to mate, etc. Usually, fresh adults' cow Shants will set off with their mother's approval to start her own family and meeting other herbivores along the way. The fresh grown bulls will automatically move away from their families to prevent incest and go find any unrelated cows to find and produce children with, they are a lot more vocal and bolder at this stage. Older Shants will sometimes prefer solitary life as they will keep most of the food to themselves and less chance to mate if they dislike it.
Courtship
If a Bachelor Parade and Matriarch Parade meet, the lead bull of the Bachelor Parade will begin to show off and push away and competition. He will mainly have eyes for the Matriarch and will attempt to coax her and force her away from the herd and any other dinosaurs. However, he will tolerate low-tier herbivores as he sees no threat in them. The other bulls in the Bachelor Parade may set eyes on the daughters or other females in the Matriarch herd once the bull is busy or out of sight. However, if two bulls have the same eyes on one cow a brawl will sprawl and only the strongest will earn the lady's eye.
Parental Hood
Shant mothers are known to be loving and very patient mothers, they will make sure that all the offspring is ready for the real world and that they get a mothers' love. She will also teach some loopholes and easy ways so that they can keep an easy life. However, once they become adults, she will leave them with the Matriarch if they are with one. If danger does put themselves in front of her kids and they are not adults yet, the mother will defend them with her life while her kids flee to safety. The fathers will not help protect the kids but will take action if something attempts to kill his mate. Once the kids become juvenile the fathers will not assist the kids in any way possible and will push them away. If the younger calves keep tormenting the male, he may lash out and mock stomp at them.
Inhabitants
These guys can be found wandering marsh lands and very heavily shrub areas. They will mainly be seen residing at places with a lot of shrubbery to protect and feed their family. Every now and then you will see a migration of Shants.
Hierarchy
Matriarch Parade: Eldest Shant Elephant
Parade: Oldest bull (the father) Bachelor Parade: Strongest Bull (Fluctuates a lot)
Pack Mentality
In a Matriarch Parade, these females are close-knit and will rely on each other to protect and supervise each other. They are often seen taking turns with watching, babysitting, and doing other tasks. The Matriarch is the one who is does most of the leading and fighting, however, should she be in danger with an apex pair or larger will more females come to her aid (3rd screen). It is also seen that if a Shant dies in a Matriarch Parade they will bellow sadly and honor the body before quickly moving on. Now, with an Elephant Parade this is usually a family made up of the father and the mate. The Bull is the one responsible for territory and patrolling, he also will protect his mate with his life. Should the female feel in danger with the bull she will attempt to sneak away without him noticing. The last one, the Bachelor Parade is very unlucky. The numbers will surely scare away predators but once one of them is targeted no other male may assist the other males in the Parade.
